Strawberry Shortcake Cupcake Review!

Posted by: thetalkingspoon on: April 24, 2012

***Disclaimer: This is a cupcake review. Yes, I am aware that baked products like cakes and cupcakes tend to have frostings that are too sweet, which can be spooned off, but let’s remember, I also bake cakes from scratch, including icings, and eat cupcakes monthly. Therefore, my taste for cupcakes may be pretentious and specific. [...]

Low Budget Gourmet: Boston Cream Pie Coffee? Home Goods Raid..Sorta

Posted by: thetalkingspoon on: January 6, 2012

Today a friend and I went to Home Goods, which is a store that offers gourmet food/coffee, furniture, and bath goods for discount prices.  Think Marshall’s, Ross or TJ Maxx, but without the clothes. I love this place, because it’s easy to access quaint adorable tea pots, funky, vintage “distressed” mirrors and desks, and features the best flavored coffees available- [...]

Wendy’s Wildberry Frosty Shake Review

Posted by: thetalkingspoon on: July 1, 2011

Wendy’s is overdosing on wildberries apparently. Berry Almond Salad, Wildberry Iced Tea and now, Wild berry shakes. Thankfully, the salad and the shake is amazing.  Now, let’s continue. The consistency of the shake is a creamy, well balanced fusion of ripe strawberries, raspberries and tart blackberries that don’t overpower the overall quality of the treat. It’s [...]

Cooking Goals: What I’ve Accomplished and not yet accomplished

Posted by: thetalkingspoon on: June 8, 2011

I love challenging myself and testing my willingness to step out of my comfort zone by assigning myself daring, fun and daily goals. I have a list of many items I have been wanting to cook, and will include them on here. So far, I’d say my progress has been pretty steady. I think cooking [...]

love making and drinking smoothies. It’s a great way to get your fruits serving, calcium and even protein! It’s a great way to replace a meal, and you can even add veggies to your smoothies!!! (I think only carrots may work for this, though) I am currently drinking a green tea and strawberry (with orange juice) smoothie. I love the green tea’s light and herbal flavor, but I also appreciate its caffeine content.

Where Have I Been? Recipes and New Cooking Ventures

Posted by: thetalkingspoon on: May 31, 2011

have made scones from scratch, biscuits, dinners, a peach cobbler with fresh sliced peaches, cakes, and interesting drinks! I have a few pictures of them prepared items and will try my best to share the recipes. Although I use recipes, I also get creative and add my own ingredients to it to give the dishes originality. So the way they come out will be a tad different from the ways your may if you do follow the directions very closely.

Mio Water Enhancer:Because regular water just isn’t fun anymore.

Posted by: thetalkingspoon on: March 31, 2011

We all know that water is incredible for health, but let’s be real- it doesn’t always taste fun, and I’m a fun kinda girl! XD So this product was ideal! A little info about my water drinking history- I’d only drink it if I was parched, averaging at about 3 glasses/day. The sad thing was, I was totally okay with that.

Opa! My First Greek Yogurt! (Then my second one)+ A recipe!

Posted by: thetalkingspoon on: March 18, 2011

Greek yogurt was pretty good It’s thick, creamy, chock full of protein (12 grams!) and does vary from your typical very sweet yogurts out there. It also taste a tad bit more natural than say some other yogurts that are just full of sugar. Plus, it’s so thick, I turned my spoon over and the yogurt didn’t even budge. COOL!!

Strawberry Shortcake for Breakfast? Sorta!

Posted by: thetalkingspoon on: March 1, 2011

I figured toasted almond was more easy to imagine taste wise and wasn’t as interesting compared to the pink prettiness of the Strawberry Shortcake. I picked it up, excited about what newness I’d experience upon tasting it. And I sniffed it a little. OH goodness! It was heavenly! So juicy, sweet and flirty to my nostrils! SOLD!

Pepperidge Farm Strawberry Milano Cookies Review

Posted by: thetalkingspoon on: February 28, 2011

I have had the pleasure (as previously mentioned) of trying the French Vanilla flavor which gave the chocolate flavor a creamy, toned down, yet subtle accented, contrasting note, and the displeasure of sampling the Raspberry flavor. Personally, the raspberry tasted like cough syrup gone bad (as if good cough syrup is ever tasty) with bitter-sweet chocolate domination. I gag sometimes, randomly when I recount how my taste buds hated me for a few hours after eating them.
